Personalized Care & Attention That Will Make You Feel Like A Queen Or King

Feeling like you are something others have to “handle” or feeling like you are another house chore can feel pretty denigrating.

But there are multiple stories and testimonials from people who feel exactly like that:

That’s why for us is so critical that you have the same buddy 99% of the time, a buddy that’s exactly that

A buddy caring and spending time with you (even if it’s “just for talking”) and getting to know you specifically and understand your needs.

Not a caregiver or an aid that’s doing his/her job and that’s it, once the job it’s done, the relationship is also done.

For That Reason Our Buddy Will Call You

before your first time together to get to know you a little bit more and see if you get along well together

what’s your story, what do you need, what do you want in your buddy, etc.

Again, get to know YOU (and you can see what’s your first impression about him or her.)

It's also very easy to trust and bond with someone you are seeing regularly and spending a good time with as opposed to with people who come and go every month.

Even if you need very little help, things work out better and are less stressful and confusing if you are seeing the same person over and over again because they get to know you and the way you like things much faster and at some point it becomes intuitive.

Which means that doing anything becomes easier and making any changes is very smooth.

And This Becomes Critical

if you have a very specific caring approach that requires more time to understand and adapt to or varies a lot depending on the context or changes your doctor may introduce.

We say 99% of the time because even your buddy can get sick too.

But if that happens, we will immediately find a new "provisional buddy" that will fill the gap until your regular buddy is back on track!

You will never go a day without care — unless you want to, of course.

Because that's the other thing, with your buddy you have complete control and flexibility over:

The things your buddy does for you

How often they do those things

And how much time overall your buddy spends with you

But whether you need 4 or 40 hours of care and companionship, you will always have your buddy (the same buddy) with you to make you feel like a queen or king.

Someone To Chat With Whenever You Want

We've all had a moment in our lives where we wanted to talk to somebody, share good news with someone, or just vent about something and let our feelings out...

But no one was there.

Not at least that we could feel comfortable talking to them whether because they wouldn't understand or we didn't want to "bother" them.

Or we just didn't want to feel judged.

And it can feel pretty lonely.

That’s what a buddy is for, so you never feel like that again:

Whatever it is, your buddy will always be there for you listening to any worries you have and any good news you can't wait to tell everyone about.

Talking with your buddy doesn’t always mean seeing them in person.

It can be something as simple as a phone or skype call.

Even if you have troubles with technology, your buddy will help you get everything set up so you both can talk whenever you need.

It's not just talking and having conversations,

Mental Hobbies Matter Too:

What better way to have a good time in company than by doing something you love with your buddy?

Playing board and card games, even video games

Solving fun puzzles or problems to keep the mind engaged

Or even an old hobby that your loved one pushed aside years ago

Whatever works for you, your buddy will be there doing it with you, anaytime you want.

In fact, if you want, your buddy can program some activities or things you can do together based on the things you like to do!

Your buddy will call you before your next time together to let you know the things he/she has prepared so you can prepare both physically and mentally and build a bit of excitement.

And the benefits go beyond entertainment and feeling close to someone else:

A mind that's not regularly exercised with social contact and mental activities in the form of games and hobbies will start to lose its strength and sharpness.

If you add to this loneliness, old age, or health conditions it can lead to faster cognitive decline.

"Use it or lose it" applies to mental ability as much as it applies to physical movement, and exercising the mind with games and hobbies is essential to keep the mind sharp — besides being fun 😉

Another amazing way to keep the mind agile is by teaching.

Think about something you are particularly good at or that you really enjoy doing.

Well, you can get ready to start doing it more because our buddies are avid learners!

If you have any skill or knowledge that you would like to share and teach others, your buddy will be more than happy to learn new things and get a grasp of new skills as long as you are ready to teach.

Whether it's playing games, engaging in fun hobbies, or having chit-chat your buddy will be there to do it with you.

Your Second Pair Of Eyes

Any adult with some real-life experience knows that in the world there are good people and not-so-good people.

And (as hard as it may sound) these not-so-good people can see an "easy target" in seniors living alone, terminally-ill patients, people with special needs, etc.

In fact, there are many stories of people who had it really bad:

Now, most people are good, and would never do something like that, but it takes just one person willing to do it to mean trouble.

Your buddy helps you avoid these situations while allowing for any visitors to come in if needed.

Whether it's an old friend stopping by or the plumber fixing something in the house, having someone your loved one trusts means they will be safe to do any house repairs necessary and encouraged to socialize in-home.

Even while going out, your buddy will make sure there's nothing weird with the demands people make and also pay for you (if you need it) using cash, never your credit card.

It's almost as if you had a second pair of eyes looking after you.

Your Second Pair Of Eyes

Social networks that are not as strong as they once were.

Medical conditions that for as long as it lasts, makes them feel isolated, limited, and unable to hang out with friends.

Their families are spread over the country and can't see each other as much as they would like.

TV and the internet are their main sources of company and they spend most of their days glued to their TVs, tablets, or phones.

They don’t have someone to talk to on a consistent basis.

Most people looking for companionship are dealing with one or multiple of those circumstances and it can feel pretty lonely at times.

Your buddy will always be there for you anytime you need someone to talk to or spend time with.

But if you want, your buddy has multiple ways to help you socialize:

A Buddy Will Help You Get Ready And Go To Any Family Events.

Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, dinners, etc.

No matter what it is, your buddy will drive you there, stay with you as long as they need to, and back to your home

Or just drive you there, leave, and come back later to take you home once the party is over.

Either way, your buddy will do everything necessary so you don’t miss any family events and you can get back to your home safely.

Visits Are More Than Welcome!

Sometimes, getting visitors can be a little challenging:

But your buddy can make getting visitors feel like a party:

They can clean and prepare anything that's necessary for you and your guests and you know that if "something happens" they are there to help you.

Going Out With Friends

Sharing laughs with friends is one of the best things to lift anyone's mood and lighten up their life but at the same time it can be a challenge:

Some people don’t feel safe going out alone for fear of falling or "something happening."

For others, their friends don’t live close by and they can't get there on their own.

But with a buddy all those "limitations" go away:

Your buddy can drive you wherever you need to meet your friends (or make new ones) and you can rest assured knowing that your buddy will be there with you in case something unexpected happens.

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind

Exercising and outdoor activities are two of the best ways to socialize, spend time with friends, and meet new people.

Plus, exercise and outdoor hobbies have multiple health benefits:

The stronger they are, the lower the risk of heart failure and infections.

Sleep is the cornerstone of physical and mental health, the better you sleep, the healthier and happier you will be.

And if you find that sleeping well is getting more difficult and you don’t wake up feeling rested, exercise (even small quantities) can help you sleep like a baby again.

Which reduces the risk of slips and falls and the chances of spending an unfortunate evening at the hospital and then months of rehab.

A lot of people report feeling in a better mood, closer to others and more integrated into a community, after spending regular time outdoors.

This can be due to many reasons:

Seeing other faces, meeting new people, socializing more, and getting more sun exposure which also increases vitamin D levels essential for bone health.

Being physically active and able to move about, even a little bit, will make you realize that you are more independent and capable than you first thought.

There are many more benefits to exercise — too many to list them all here in fact.

But Exercising And Spending Time Outdoors Can Be Harder For Some People.

Whether because of:

It can be difficult, boring, and sometimes even painful to move and go out. The good news is that if you want (or need) to spend more time outdoors or exercise more you don’t have to run marathons or lift heavyweights: Even going on walks a couple of times a week or engaging in hobbies that require some physical movement (as light as it may be) will have all the benefits of exercise at some level. Some movement is always better than none.

And your buddy will help you get as much exercise and

Outdoor Time As You Want (Or Can):

You may find yourself moving more now than you ever did before!

Medical Appointments

We know it’s not the most fun thing.

But if medical appointments are part of your routine, your buddy will make the trip and the stay as easy, smooth, and stress-free for them as possible.

No matter what kind of medical appointment:

Whether you need to go to the doctor for revisions of treatments and medications, or they need a battery replacement for their peacemaker

Your buddy will drive you to the appointment and back, and stay with you as long as you need to so you never are or feel alone.

You know there’s someone with you at any point and your buddy can also call any friends or family members in case you need them to go or just want to talk to them.

“What if I have day surgery and prefer to go there on my own?”

No worries, your buddy will be there with you the moment you open your eyes ready to listen to the doctor's recommendations and take you back home.

Even beyond that:

Your buddies will also take notes during the medical appointments about everything the doctor says so you know exactly what you have to take and do, and when.

Because everything makes sense in the office while the doctor is talking and explaining things, but then once you get home...

“What was the name of the new med?”

“How many times do I have to take it once or twice a day? I think the doctor said 3 times a day.”

“When it’s the next appointment? When do I have to go back?”

Things can easily get confusing for anyone, that's why taking notes makes your life much easier:

Because you don't have to be worried and wondering if you are doing or taking the right things, now you know for sure.

Also (with your consent) your buddy can share any notes they took with your loved ones so they know exactly everything the doctor said.

The pen and the paper don't forget!

Never Again Forget Anything, Ever.

Anyone taking medication has forgotten to take it at some point in their lives: No matter how old or young, 1 pill or 10 pills, or if they have been taking them for 1 week or 1 year.

Some people go to take their evening dose and realized they forgot to take them in the morning

Others realize that they didn’t forget to take it… they just took the wrong one.

It just happens at some point to anyone.

Things get even more complicated if you have multiple medications or the doctor is changing them regularly.

Juggling between all the meds, treatments, and everyday life can be confusing for anyone.

Who wouldn’t forget once or twice?

The problem is not that you forget to take them once, but rather that if you forget once you can forget again, and then again, and again.

Our buddies will remember your loved ones to take their medication at the right time and do anything they need to follow their treatment plan.

But this is not just limited to medications, your buddy can remind you of everything:

Awaited family events, birthday parties, social hangouts with friends, upcoming doctor appointments, imminent family visits, whatever it is.

Your buddy will help you stay on schedule and gain a deeper sense of order and control over your life without having to be constantly thinking about it.

No, your buddy won’t be your personal assistant running after you and making sure you’ve done your homework and punishing you if you haven’t.

But your buddy can (sporadically) give you friendly reminders about important things you need to get done (like paying the bills on time) if you tell them to.

And you can be rest assured knowing that:.

You won't forget it because your buddy will be there to remind you.

Slips And Falls

Unfortunately, seniors and people with medical conditions are at a higher risk of slips and falls than anyone else.

And this risk increases drastically if:

The physical problems that falling can cause (like broken hips or concussions) are already pretty troublesome but the fear of falling also has a profound mental effect.

There’s nothing as scary as being alone at home, falling to the ground and not being able to get back up.

Just laying on the ground without being able to move or ask for help, call anyone.

Almost feeling trapped in your own home. In fact, a lot of people coming to us looking for a buddy, already experience things like:

Feelings of losing or lacking independence.

Going out of their house can cause anxiety because "What if I fall and there's no one there to help me?" and thoughts like that can lead to further isolation.

In some cases, they can even feel "useless" or helpless and these feelings can negatively impact their mood and mental health.

If you’ve ever felt like that even for a second, having your buddy next to you will eliminate all of those feelings and drastically diminish any fear you may have of falling.

Here's what our buddies will do to reduce the

Chances Of Falls And Slips:

Just having someone there in case the worst happens will give you a sense of security and mitigate (if not completely eliminate) the fear of falling.

What if the worst happens and your

loved one falls for whatever reason?

While your buddy can NOT pick you up for safety protocols and to avoid further injuries...

Your buddy will call 911 immediately, and stay with you until they come and do everything they can to help you, they will never leave you alone.

Your buddy will also call any relative, friend, family member or whoever your ICE is to let them know what's going on so your loved ones can also be there with you.

How Have You Been Eating Lately?

You've heard the saying:

"We are what we eat."

And that goes double for seniors or people who have to care extra hard for their health.

But age, medical conditions, and mood problems can make eating a dull, boring, and even a painful experience.

When people find us sometimes they are:

Feelings of losing or lacking independence.

Eating plenty of processed and unhealthy store-bought food because cooking and cleaning feels like a chore

Or just eating very little because they’ve lost the joy for eating

Nutrition plays a critical role in things like atherosclerosis and heart disease, osteoporosis, stroke, obesity and diabetes, etc.

And this is especially true for older people and those with an existing medical condition, bad nutrition can worsen things very quickly.

Your buddy will ensure that you are eating everything you need and cook tasty meals for you, whether you follow a medical diet or just need a hand or 2 in the kitchen.

Here’s everything your buddy can do for your diet and nutrition:

How Have You Been Eating Lately?

Grocery sahopping can be intimidating or feel like a chore for a lot of people:

So if you hate grocery shopping, think having someone with you could be handy, or just want someone else to do it those times you don’t feel like it... Your buddy will go grocery shopping alone while you stay at home or are doing something more pleasant or important.

Or if you prefer to go together,

Here’s Everything Your Buddy Will Do For You:

Either way, your buddy will buy the things that you want and need to eat a nutritious and healthy meal while following any medical recommendations you may have to follow.

Then You And Your Buddy Will Prepare Tasty Meals, Together.

That doesn't mean that you have to do all the cooking though:

Feelings of losing or lacking independence.

But you can also sit back and just give your buddy directions as to what you want and how you want it so you don't have to stand the whole time.

Or just be there together in the kitchen and share good chit-chat while your buddy is cooking you nutritious meals.

Either way, your buddy will buy the things that you want and need to eat a nutritious and healthy meal while following any medical recommendations you may have to follow.

So Whether You:

Your buddy will cook anything you need and want so you don’t have to spend long hours standing in the kitchen to make a tasty meal or do something quick that’s unhealthy.

But cooking something delicious isn’t everything:

What you cook can be as important as how you cook.

If you have chewing or swallowing difficulties because of surgery or medical conditions, and you need softer meals, your buddy will adjust the meals accordingly to make it easy for you to enjoy eating.

And once the feast is over,

Your Buddy Will Clean Everything.

Eating is the fun part, doing the dishes not so much.

Even if you love cooking, cleaning afterward can still be a headache.

That's why your buddy will keep everything pristine so there are no piles of dirty dishes in the kitchen and you focus only on eating healthy and enjoying their meals.

You will never again have to worry about eating store-bought meals or spending hours in the kitchen cooking and cleaning!

Housekeeping

Housekeeping is one of the most requested things once people realized that their homes are not as kept together as they used to:

Start to become increasingly more common.

That's because doing half the work now takes twice the effort.

Keeping everything clean and orderly can be an odyssey and there are some things that they just can't do.

So if you notice that your home is not as clean as it used to, you are having trouble keeping some spots clean, or you just don’t want to do it...

Our Buddies Will Keep Your Home

as polished and pristine as it used to be:

All of that and everything necessary to keep your home clean without you lifting a finger.

The Most Common Questions People Have At This Point

Why A Buddy Over A Nursing Home?

"This isn't just a house, it's my home."

It really depends on what you want.

Most people that come to us know that they prefer to stay in their homes.

Which is no surprise because they've spent years, even decades living in that house and turning it into a home.

All those years spent growing older and wiser

Raising a family and playing with their kids

Caring for their pets

Enjoying time with their significant other

They've been building a life for many years inside that home.

And all the feelings and memories of them and their loved ones are inside that home.

It's a place where they feel safe and protected.

Staying in their home makes them feel more independent even if they need some extra help or assistance with a couple of daily chores.

So they want to stay.

Who wouldn't?

With an in-home buddy, you’ll get a level of attention and companionship far beyond what you could get at a nursing home because you have personalized attention always from the same buddy, your buddy.

Whereas in a nursing home they may have different care worker’s with divided focus and attention between multiple patients.

You also have more freedom to choose.

There are no schedules or rules to follow (other than those imposed by a doctor or yourself):

Caring is completely flexible based on what you need.

You and your buddy can be together whenever you want

Go out with your buddy (or alone) as much as you want

Stay in your neighborhood

All those years spent growing older and wiserYou and your family can spend as much time together as you want and they can call whenever they want without sticking to any schedule

Visit your friends as much as they want

Even keep your pet if you have one

And if at some point you need to change anything, it can always be done.

You are basically in control all the time.

That said, if you have a strong need for medical or nursing care, you will probably need the assistance of a nursing home or a PSW if you want in-home care.

How can a buddy help me if

I Alreaday Have A PSW?

Most people that hire a buddy already have a PSW!

We are just top-up safety and peace of mind, that extra support and companionship so you never feel alone, always have someone to talk to, and have all your needs met.

Your PSW does the things that we can’t do:

Bathing, dressing, toileting, or taking you out of your wheelchair.

And nursing care like dispensing medications, catheter care, injections, wound care, tube feedings, etc.

Whereas your buddy can do multiple other things in a more cost-effective way:

Spend time with you, talk with you about anything you want, go with you anywhere you need, make your life easier at home with housekeeping and cooking, but also outside taking you to any medical appointments or family gatherings you need, etc.

If you're looking for someone to spend more time with or do any of the things above, increasing the hours of your PSW will probably be more expensive than a buddy spending that same time with you.

How Does “Getting A Buddy” Work?

What Happens Now?

The first step is to book a call with Carol, our founder.

And once the call is booked, we’ll call you at the set time so you don’t have to worry about anything (though we recommend setting a reminder or alarm in your phone so it doesn’t catch you by surprise.)

In that call she will listen to everything you have to say and ask questions about how you are feeling, what are you looking for, and overall understand all your needs and get to know you a bit more as a person.

You can also ask Carol any questions you have.

The duration of the call varies from person to person but it usually won’t take too much time out of your day, about 20 minutes.

Although it can be more, that’s just an approximation so you have an idea, but you two will spend as much time as necessary to deeply understand your situation 🙂

After that, Carol will personally select the buddy that’s the best fit for you based on everything you talk about and you will get a call from your buddy within 48 hours to get to know each other a bit more and schedule your first time together.

And that’s it, now you have a buddy that will always be there for you!

“But what if my buddy and I don’t get along?”

We are sure that you’ll love your buddy since we match you with a buddy based on how compatible your personalities are, your needs, and the skills of the buddy.

But in the rare event that happens, you don’t have to worry about anything.

Just give us a call and Carol will find another buddy that (this time finally;) is the right fit for you, again in just 48 hours.

For Your Loved Ones

buddies can do for your loved one?

Personalized Attention

That's Almost As Caring As You

No one cares for your loved one as much as you do, but a buddy will get pretty close!

Once people come to us looking for care and companionship for their loved ones, sometimes they've tried other in-home caring and companionship services, just to realize that:

Neglecting the care is bad enough, but on top of that, this makes people feel like they are something others have to “handle,” an inconvenience, or are another house chore.

Which can feel pretty denigrating and it’s not good for anyone’s mental health.

That’s why for us is so critical that your loved one has the same buddy 99% of the time, a buddy that’s exactly that:

A buddy caring and spending time with

and getting to know your loved one specifically. Understand his/her needs.

Not a caregiver or an aid that’s doing his/her job and that’s it, once the job it’s done, the relationship is also done.

And by having the same buddy, your loved one will develop a deeper level of bonding, trust, and connection with them.

That familiarity and trust become even more critical if your loved one:

Is older — they may feel more vulnerable and having someone they know and trust (even if your loved one needs very little help) will keep stress levels low and everything running smoothly

Has any mental health issues — seeing the same face over and over is critical because changing too often can be confusing, stressing, and disorienting for them.

Or has any special condition with a very specific caring approach that requires more time to understand and adapt to.

We say 99% of the time because even our buddies can get sick.

But if that happens, we will immediately find a new buddy for your loved one that's as caring as their regular one.

Your loved one will never go a day without care — unless some of you want to.

Because that's the other thing, with a buddy you have complete control and flexibility over:

But whether your loved one needs 4 or 40 hours of care and companionship, they will always have their buddy (the same buddy) with them

So you can be sure that they are being taken care of while you take care of yourself and your life.

Is Your Loved One Eating Well?

You've heard the saying:

"We are what we eat."

And that goes double for seniors or people who have to care extra hard for their health.

But age, medical conditions, and mood problems can make eating a dull, boring, and even painful experience.

In fact, most people come to us when they realize that their loved ones are not eating correctly for that reason:

Our buddies will ensure that your loved ones are eating everything they need, whether they need to follow a medical diet or simply improve their nutrition.

First Of All, Our Buddies Will Do The Groceries:

Our buddies will buy the things that your loved one wants and needs so they can eat a nutritious and healthy meal while following any medical recommendations they may need.

Grocery shopping can be intimidating and feel like a chore for seniors:

To be plain and simple, it can be a pain in the ass.

But a buddy can drive your loved ones there, help them shop, check out, and load and unload the groceries so your loved ones avoid any “back-cracks” or any canned food falling on their toes making the whole experience like a walk in the park.

Then Your Loved One And The Buddy

will prepare tasty meals, together.

That doesn't mean that your loved one has to do all the cooking though:

Yes, they can cook together and our buddy can give your loved one a hand to make everything easier.

But if your loved one doesn't want to stand a cook he/she can simply give the buddy directions about what they want and how to do it.

Or just be there together in the kitchen and share good chit-chat while your buddy is doing all the cooking.

Now, your loved one doesn't have to be there every second of it.

But spending time together with their buddy is always better than being alone, isn't it?

Doesn't matter if it's in the kitchen or outside during a walk, doing it together is always better than doing it alone.

So Whether Your Loved One:

Their buddy will cook anything your loved one needs so they don’t have to spend long hours standing in the kitchen to make a tasty meal or do something quick that’s unhealthy.

But cooking something delicious isn’t everything:

What you cook can be as important as how you cook.

If your loved one has chewing or swallowing difficulties because of surgery or medical conditions, and needs softer meals, our buddy will adjust the meals accordingly to make it easy for your loved one to enjoy eating.

And once the feast is over,

We'll Keep Everything Clean.

Eating is the fun part, doing the dishes not so much.

Even if your loved ones like cooking, cleaning afterward can be a headache.

That's why our buddies will do the dishes and keep everything pristine so there are no piles of dirty dishes in the kitchen and your loved ones only focus on eating healthy and enjoying their meals.

Different people have different nutritional needs:

Seniors, for example, need to focus on eating more nutrient-dense foods because the need for certain nutrients like protein increases, and they need more Vit.D and calcium for their bones.

Maybe your loved one has a prescribed diet they need to follow or some foods they need to avoid due to allergies.

Or maybe it's just that they don't like cooking and cleaning afterwards.

But whatever it is, a buddy will ensure that they are eating correctly.

With the food our buddies will prepare for them, you'd wish you had a buddy yourself!

Medical Appointments

Just like eating or waking up in the morning, medical appointments and check-ins are a routine for most seniors or people with medical conditions.

A buddy will make the trip and the stay as easy, smooth, and stress-free for them as possible

No matter what kind of medical appointment:

Whether your loved ones need to go to the doctor for revisions of treatments and medications, or they need a battery replacement for their peacemaker

Their buddy will drive them to the appointment and back, and stay with them as long as they need to so they never are or feel alone.

And you get the peace of mind of knowing that there's someone with them all the time and they can call you immediately if necessary.

But what if your loved ones have day surgery and prefer to go on their own?

No worries, their buddy will be there with them the moment they wake up ready to listen to the doctor's recommendations and take them home.

Even Beyond That:

Our buddies will also take notes during the medical appointments about everything the doctor says so your loved ones know exactly what they have to take and do, and when.

Because everything makes sense in the office while the doctor is talking and explaining things, but then once you get home...

“What was the name of the new med?”

“How many times do I have to take it once or twice a day? I think the doctor said 3 times a day.”

“When it’s the next appointment? When do I have to go back?”

Things can easily get confusing for anyone, that's why taking notes makes your loved one's life (and yours) much easier:

Because they don't have to be worried and wondering if they are doing or taking the right things.

Also (with your loved one's consent) our buddies can share any notes they took so you know exactly everything the doctor said.

The pen and the paper don't forget!

Slips And Falls

Unfortunately, seniors and people with medical conditions are at a higher risk of slips and falls than anyone else.

Slips and falls are the #1 injury among mature adults.

1 in 3 adults over 65 becomes injured by a slip or fall.

800,000 slips and falls each year result in serious fractures and head injuries.

And this risk increases drastically if your loved one has a history or is prone to falling or is taking medications that cause dizziness or disorientation.

We often worry and focus on the physical problems that falling can cause (like broken hips or concussions)

But the fear of falling also has a profound mental effect on your loved ones:

Here's what our buddies will do to

Reduce The Chances Of Falls And Slips:

Keep the house and the floor clean and dry.

Remove all the hazards that can cause slips and trips — like liquids or slippery rugs.

Assista your loved one with the stairs and obstacles inside their home, but also once they are outside going about their everyday life.

Just having someone there in case the worst happens will give a sense of security, not just to you, but also to your loved ones.

It will remove part of the fear and get them going again to live life without that fear being something that keeps them from doing everything they can do.
