But your buddy can (sporadically) remind you about important things you need to get done (like paying the bills on time) if you want.
Slips And Falls
Here's what our buddies will do to reduce the chances of falls and slips:
- Keep the house and the floor clean and dry.
- Remove all the hazards that can cause slips and trips — like liquids or slippery rugs.
- Assist you with the stairs and obstacles inside their home, but also once they are outside going about their everyday life.
Just having someone there in case the worst happens will give you a sense of security and mitigate (if not completely eliminate) the fear of falling.
What if the worst happens and you fall?
While your buddy can NOT pick you up for safety protocols and to avoid further injuries...
Your buddy will call 911 immediately, and stay with you until they come and do everything they can to help you, they will never leave you alone
Your buddy will also call any relative, friend, family member, or whoever your ICE is to let them know what's going on so your loved ones can also be there with you.
How Have You Been Eating Lately?
Your buddy will ensure that you are eating everything you need and cook tasty meals for you, whether you follow a medical diet or just need a hand in the kitchen.
First of all, your buddy will do the groceries.
Your buddy will go grocery shopping alone while you stay at home or are doing something more pleasant or important.
Or if you prefer to go together, here’s everything your buddy will do for you:
Drive you to the grocery store and back
Help you shop and check out
Load and unload the groceries so you avoid any back injuries, any canned food falling on your toes, or just dealing with heavyweights
Then you and your buddy will prepare tasty meals together.
That doesn't mean that you have to do all the cooking though:
You can also sit back and just give your buddy directions as to what you want and how you want it so you don't have to stand the whole time.

Why A Buddy Over A Nursing Home?

Most people that come to us know that they prefer to stay in their homes.
They've been building a life for many years inside that home.
And all the feelings and memories of them and their loved ones are inside that home.
It's a place where they feel safe and protected.
Staying in their home makes them feel more independent even if they need some extra help or assistance with a couple of daily chores.
So they want to stay.
Who wouldn't?
With an in-home buddy, you’ll get a level of attention and companionship far beyond what you could get at a nursing home because you have personalized attention always from the same buddy, your buddy.
Whereas in a nursing home they may have different care worker’s with divided focus and attention between multiple patients.
You also have more freedom to choose.
There are no schedules or rules to follow (other than those imposed by a doctor or yourself):
Caring is completely flexible based on what you need.
You and your buddy can be together whenever you want
Go out with your buddy (or alone) as much as you want

How can a buddy help me if
I Alreaday Have A PSW?
Most people that hire a buddy already have a PSW!
We are just top-up safety and peace of mind, that extra support and companionship so you never feel alone, always have someone to talk to, and have all your needs met.
Your PSW does the things that we can’t do:
Bathing, dressing, toileting, or taking you out of your wheelchair.
And nursing care like dispensing medications, catheter care, injections, wound care, tube feedings, etc.
Whereas your buddy can do multiple other things in a more cost-effective way:
Spend time with you, talk with you about anything you want, go with you anywhere you need, make your life easier at home with housekeeping and cooking, but also outside taking you to any medical appointments or family gatherings you need, etc.
If you're looking for someone to spend more time with or do any of the things above, increasing the hours of your PSW will probably be more expensive than a buddy spending that same time with you.
How Does “Getting A Buddy” Work?
What Happens Now?
The first step is to book a call with Carol, our founder.
And once the call is booked, we’ll call you at the set time so you don’t have to worry about anything (though we recommend setting a reminder or alarm in your phone so it doesn’t catch you by surprise.)
In that call she will listen to everything you have to say and ask questions about how you are feeling, what are you looking for, and overall understand all your needs and get to know you a bit more as a person.
You can also ask Carol any questions you have.
The duration of the call varies from person to person but it usually won’t take too much time out of your day, about 20 minutes.
Although it can be more, that’s just an approximation so you have an idea, but you two will spend as much time as necessary to deeply understand your situation 🙂
After that, Carol will personally select the buddy that’s the best fit for you based on everything you talk about and you will get a call from your buddy within 48 hours to get to know each other a bit more and schedule your first time together.
And that’s it, now you have a buddy that will always be there for you!

We are sure that you’ll love your buddy since we match you with a buddy based on how compatible your personalities are, your needs, and the skills of the buddy.
But in the rare event that happens, you don’t have to worry about anything.
